Our President Has No Respect For Other Countries

George Bush’s behavior at the G8 summit is raising eyebrows. First he failed to notice an open microphone in front of him, and greeted the British Prime Minister with a call of ‘Yo Blair!’ before noting that Hezbollah should ‘Stop doing this shit’.

Next he was captured on video attempting to give German Chancellor Angela Merkel an unwelcome neck massage – the kind of approach that might see him sued for harassment in the United States. The video shows an alarmed Merkel throwing Bush’s hands off her in obvious discomfort.

The British public has reacted angrily to Bush’s perceived lack of respect for their leader’s position, while the German press is furious at him for what they consider to be an intensely unwise gesture towards Merkel. Both leaders have found themselves chastised for what their constituents are seeing as a subservient relationship to Bush and America in general.

What’s next for Bush? A linebacker-style slap on the butt for Kofi Annan? A condescending pat on the head for Hugo Chavez? A few sweet nothings in the ear of Ehud Olmert?

No wonder the rest of the world has no respect for George Bush. After all, he clearly has no respect for the rest of the world.
